Ecopetrol seeks with this strategic pillar the prevention and mitigation of possible effects on the environment due to hydrocarbon spills and/or other dangerous substances generated by operational incidents in the areas of operations of Ecopetrol S.A. and its Business Group, contributing to business sustainability, value generation and trust with stakeholders.
According to the above, Ecopetrol S.A. has an HSE Management system and some strategic lines associated with the prevention and improved remediation of possible effects on the environment due to operational incidents, which are described below:

Proactive risk management
Proactive management of threats and the vulnerability of exposed environmental elements, for the assessment of risk scenarios and prevention of potential environmental damage, through the articulation of plans and operational tools for asset integrity, and the improvement of systems of corporate management.
Incorporation of technology in the management of environmental information
Strengthening of the environmental information for decision making by the company's businesses with the incorporation of technological and digital tools.
Continuous improvement analysis
Analysis of results, causes, effects and controls on the behavior of incidents with potential effects on the environment and their relationship with the organization's management systems.
Remediation and improvement of the condition
Carry out the identification and improved remediation of the areas environmentally impacted by the hydrocarbons and/or their derivatives, ensuring through actions aimed at the recomposition and improvement of the initial conditions.
