The following graphs shows the results of proactive risk management, which has led to a reduction in incidents affecting the environment and spilled volumes.

The chart shows a sustained and positive trend in the reduction of the total volume of hydrocarbons spilled —including incidents both below and above 1 barrel— from operational causes with environmental impact, between 2011 and 2025.
The highest value was recorded in 2011 (2,449 barrels), followed by a progressive decrease in subsequent years, reaching levels close to 25 barrels in 2024 and 2025.
In 2025, the reported volume (25.31 bbls) represents a 49% reduction compared to the average of the previous three years (49.59 bbls), calculated based on the values for 2024 (25.57 bbls), 2023 (36.9 bbls), and 2022 (86.3 bbls).

The chart shows a 93.5% decrease in the volume of hydrocarbons spilled from incidents caused by third parties in 2025, compared to 2024. While these events are not under the direct responsibility of ECOPETROL S.A., the Company has implemented various measures aimed at preventing their occurrence and mitigating their impacts.
For more information on the management of environmentally impactful incidents and the recovery of areas affected by hydrocarbons, please refer to Current Management.
ECOPETROL S.A. conducts comprehensive monitoring of all hydrocarbon spill incidents, regardless of their volume. Additionally, it performs a specific analysis of those exceeding 1 barrel, in line with international standards and reporting frameworks such as Form 20-F, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), and SASB. The historical performance of this metric is presented below.

In line with this positive trend, during 2025 a total of 8 incidents involving hydrocarbon spills greater than 1 barrel were recorded in ECOPETROL S.A.’s direct operations, with environmental impact. The total volume spilled was 17 barrels.
This result represents an 89.47% decrease compared to the total volume spilled in incidents greater than 1 barrel in 2024 (161.49 bbls).
Of the 8 incidents recorded in 2025, 4 were operational in origin, accounting for 11.83 barrels, and 4 were caused by third parties, with a volume of 5.16 barrels.
To monitor performance related to spills greater than one barrel, ECOPETROL S.A. uses as a reference the IOGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) index “Number of oil spills >1 barrel in size and quantity spilled per unit of hydrocarbon production.” This indicator is calculated and published toward the end of the fourth quarter of each year, using information from the previous reporting year. In the 2024 report (Environmental Performance Indicators, Table A.22), a value of 6.05 was reported for the Onshore segment. The calculation of this index for ECOPETROL over the same period was 0.05, representing a result 99.17 % lower than the global average for the Onshore segment. The global index results for the 2025 reporting year will be published by the IOGP in the fourth quarter of 2026. The performance of ECOPETROL’s index compared to the global index for the Onshore segment is shown in the following chart.

Note: According to IOGP guidelines, the index does not include incidents with oil spills greater than 1 barrel that have been caused by terrorist acts/attacks on infrastructure, for this reason some values calculated for Ecopetrol direct operation are re-expressed.
