Human Rights Practices
In Support of Children
Within the Tactical Plan on Human Rights, Ecopetrol has a special emphasis on the commitment to respecting the rights of children.
For this it has, on the one hand, a program aimed at improving the quality of life of children and adolescents, who are the children of workers and retirees of Ecopetrol. On the other hand, it creates regional agreements aimed at improving the children´s rights situation in the communities where the company operates.
In 2011 Ecopetrol and the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF) signed the Right to Happiness agreement. Within this framework, activities are undertaken that promote their life, physical integrity, health, care, love, education, recreation and culture, as well as protecting them against all forms of neglect, physical or moral violence, and all forms of abuse, through training talks for parents on childrearing, recreational vacations, among other activities, as well as monthly support through messages via the company´s internal communications channels, with topics related to love, education, growth, responsible maternity and paternity, treating children well, play and the prevention of abuse, among others.
