A group of 27 local entrepreneurs from the areas of operation of Ecopetrol completed deals in excess of $2,000 million with national and international companies during seven rounds of virtual business ‘Somos Colombia’, Sponsored by the company during this year to promote regional productive sectors.
In this way Ecopetrol continues to be committed to the growth of local business through its program ‘diverse productive vocations’ that contributes to the reactivation of the regional and national economy.
The seven virtual rounds were held in Los Llanos Orientales, Magdalena Medio, Barrancabermeja, Caribe, Putumayo, Huila and a national one.
As a result, entrepreneurs have had the opportunity to expand their market niches, increase their sales by 15% and have benefited more than 200 families in the areas where the company has operations.
” To date we have carried out seven of the nine rounds scheduled for this year with the participation of more than 400 local entrepreneurs, which yield excellent results and confirm our commitment to the growth of the regions where we operate, " said Jaime Pineda, Ecopetrol supply manager.
One of these entrepreneurs is Isidoro Caballero, owner of sweets and Chocolates Caballero in San Vicente de Chucurí, Santander, who participated in the round held in the Magdalena Medio and made visible his portfolio of products.
"This strategy has linked me to have a direct contact with the Petrocasinos company, which I thank immensely because it has bought me table chocolate and I am sure that I will continue to be its supplier for many years,” he said.
In these spaces participate sectors of food, staffing, toilet, cafeteria, biodegradable packaging for food, biosecurity products (Covid-19), transport, stationery, innovation and technology, and transformation of usable waste such as plastic, glass, cardboard, wood, oil, among others.
Rounds virtual ‘We are Colombia’ can count on the support of the Chambers of Commerce of the regions, the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, represented by Propaís and Colombia Productive, the participation of the Chamber of Goods and Oil Services, Campetrol, and the National business Association of Colombia, Andi.
Local products reach Ecopetrol casinos
Ecopetrol also buys local and that is why it held in its 11 casinos operating areas the first gastronomic festival ‘the flavors of my land’ to promote the linkage of direct ventures. As a result of this initiative, more than 3,200 lunches are being distributed in their casinos prepared with food harvested in the regions of operation, which generated revenues of more than $40 million to local producers.
This initiative is generating productive chains so that Ecopetrol suppliers have also joined the purchase of local products. Through initiatives such as the’ Mercado Campesino ' held in Puerto Gaitán, led by Sodexo, operator of food services in Campo Rubiales, farmers in the area increased by more than $20 million sales of papaya, pineapple and Tahitian lemon, among other products.
