Inventory of Atmospheric Emissions

In implementing the continuous improvement process for the emissions inventory, during 2011 the following activities were carried out:

Pre-audit for inventory verification in accordance with the guidelines and requirements established by ISO14064, which made it possible to identify opportunities and actions for improvement to the inventory, which will be carried out during 2012.

Inclusion of new operations in the estimate made for 2011

Adjustment of some emission factors

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions

In 2011 GHG emissions were estimated at 6,722 kilotons of CO2e, an increase of 17% compared to 2010, mainly due to the inclusion within the inventory of emissions from the Northeast Management Department, an area that became part of Ecopetrol´s operations in June 2010.
