Contract Management aims to ensure the initiation, performance, closure, and balance of contracts, carrying out an adequate management of eventualities and carrying out the supplier´s performance assessment.

Through the issuance of Law 1118 of 2006, it was established in articles 1 and 6 that Ecopetrol S.A. will be organized as a mixed economy company of a commercial nature, of the national order, linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and that its applicable regime for "All legal acts, contracts and actions necessary to manage and develop the corporate purpose of Ecopetrol SA, once constituted as a mixed economy company, will be governed exclusively by the rules of private law, regardless of the percentage of the state contribution within the social capital of the company."
