Felipe Bayón, CEO Ecopetrol



Chief Executive Officer of Ecopetrol since September 2017. Mr. Bayón holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad de los Andes. He has over 26 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.  Prior of being CEO at Ecopetrol, he was Chief Operating Officer and for the last 20 years he worked at BP plc, as Senior Vice President of BP America and Head of Global Deepwater Response. From 2005 to 2010, he was the Regional President of BP Southern Cone (South America), and before 2005 he worked in BP’s headquarters as Chief of Staff to the CEO and the Head of the Executive Office for Exploration and Production. He began his career in 1995 in BP Colombia, as a Project Engineer, where he held various positions until becoming Vice President of Operations in Colombia.

Jaime Caballero, CFO Ecopetrol


Chief Financial Officer of Ecopetrol since August 2018. Up to that time, he was Chief Financial Officer for Ecopetrol´s (NYSE:EC) Downstream Segment, comprising the Group´s Refining, Petrochemicals and Biofuels businesses. Previously, he was Founder and Managing Director of EQUES Estrategia, a boutique strategy, consulting and angel investing firm with clients in the international energy, private equity, and logistics sectors.  Mr. Caballero also spent 17 years at BP in business management and executive roles across the Americas, Africa, and Europe. He is lawyer and holds a degree in Economy and Finance from  Universidad de los Andes. He also has an MBA in energy business of Fundação Getulio Vargas and a degree of High Financial Management of Duke University and Wharton School of Business.


Pedro Manrique, VP of Commercialization and Marketing


Vice-president of Commercialization and Marketing since April 2017. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Industrial de Santander, as well as a Master’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida in United States where he was a Fulbright Scholar and an MBA from the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. He has 29 years oil and gas industry experience and previously he spent 15 years in the upstream business with Chevron Petroleum Company. During his career he also worked with Enron Energy Services as a Risk Manager and as a Business Development Manager at Enron International based in Houston, Texas.

Juan Manuel Rojas, VP Strategy and Business Development


Vice-president of Strategy and Business Development of Ecopetrol since July 2018. Mr. Rojas holds a degree in Economy from Universidad de los Andes, holds a Masters in Economics from the same institution and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University.  Prior to joining Ecopetrol, he worked as General Manager of Bridas Corporation, an Argentinean and Chinese Oil and Gas Company, he also served as New Ventures Manager at Panamerican Energy and he worked as Energy Director of SOCMA Group, where he led the Group's strategy in the area of renewable energy, with particular emphasis on wind power projects. Mr. Rojas also holds experience working for the public sector, he was Deputy Minister of Energy and Gas of Colombia.  In the academic field he has been professor of the Master of Public Policy Program at the Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires, and has been Professor of History of Economic Thought at the Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.

Rafael Guzmán, Upstream Development Vice President of Ecopetrol


Upstream Development Vice President of Ecopetrol, he has been with this company since October 2010. Mr. Guzmán has over 23 years of oil and gas industry experience. Prior to Ecopetrol, he worked with Eni and BP in managerial positions in field development and production operations in Europe and Latin America. Furthermore, he has been a member of the board of directors for oil and gas companies in Colombia, USA and Brasil. He holds a BSc degree in petroleum engineering from Universidad America in Colombia (1995), a MSc in petroleum engineering and a PhD in petroleum engineering with minor in mathematics, all from Stanford University.

Aníbal Fernández De Soto, Vice President for Sustainable Development


Vice President for Sustainable Development, has been with the company since 2018. Mr. Fernández De Soto, has served as Vice Minister in the Ministry of Defense and in the Ministry of Agriculture. He was the General Director of Territorial Environmental Policy and National Environmental System Coordination, Director of Security at the Ministry for Post-Conflict, and the representative for the President of Colombia on the Steering Council for the National Mining Agency. In the private sector, he has served in executive management for the ANDI Chamber of Beverage Industries, Pensamiento Siglo XXI Corporation and the Democracy and Freedom Foundation. He is an attorney who graduated in economics from University of the Andes and holds a master’s degree in Political Action, Institutional Strengthening and Citizen Participation in the State of Law from Francisco de Vitoria and King Juan Carlos I Universities in Madrid, Spain.

María Catalina Escobar, Head of Capital Markets


Head of Capital Markets since February 2014. Prior to  Ecopetrol, she worked in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit for 11 years. She was also head of financing for state owned companies and head of international capital markets and advisor of risk at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of the Republic of Colombia. Mrs. Escobar holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a B.A in Finance and International Relations from Universidad Externado (Colombia).
