Mining and Energy Committee
The mission of the Mining and Energy Committee on Security and Human Rights (CME) is to promote the improved performance of the sector and institutions of the Colombian state in Human Rights, in what is related to security.
Its main objectives are to contribute to strengthening the management of State institutions and companies with regard to Human Rights and security; sharing, promoting and generating good practices; to be a forum for the discussion of issues in Human Rights and security amongst its members, civil society and other State institutions; to promote the implementation of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VP), and to interact with the World Council of this international initiative.
Members of the committee are:
- Colombian State: Vice-Presidency of the Republic, High Council for Coexistence and Citizen Security, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Command of the Armed Forces of Colombia, National Army, Superintendence of Private Security and Surveillance.
- Companies: Ecopetrol, Occidental de Colombia, Cerrejón, Isa, Isagen, Río Tinto, Talisman, Anglo American, Anglo Gold Ashanti, Equion Energía, Greystar and the Colombian Petroleum Association
- Embassies: United Kingdom, United States, Canada and the Netherlands.
- Civil Society Organizations: Ideas for Peace Foundation and International Alert.
