The democratization process of Ecopetrol's equity has translated into improved corporate governance practices.  The administration has been working to institutionalize the organization by adopting good corporate governance practices, incorporating independent members in the Board of Directors, in addition to those required by law.  Additionally, at the highest levels of the organization it has established a commitment with transparency and best practices similar to those of private sector companies.
